US eases travel advisory for India; all eyes on when it removes restrictions on travellers

NEW DELHI: With the Covid situation improving significantly in India, the United States on Monday eased travel restrictions to the country for its citizens. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has now categorised India as “level 2: moderate” in terms of the pandemic, a change from the earlier and higher “level 3: high”. Now it remains to be seen when does the US remove restrictions imposed on travellers from India that were imposed at the peak of the deadly second wave seen here earlier this summer.

The US state department updated its travel advisory for India by now having the country in “level 2: exercise increased caution.”
