UPPCL PF scam CBI starts investigation against own officer
In an interesting twist in the probe into alleged irregularities in the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) Provident Fund (PF scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started an inquiry against its own officer. The probe has been started following a complaint against him for alleged corruption, cheating, fraud, forgery and abuse of position as a public servant.
It was alleged that Deputy Superintendent, Anti Corruption Bureau (Lucknow), Sandeep Kumar Pandey favoured the owner of Kapoor Watch Company by keeping him out of the CBI’s net in the infamous UPPCL scam.
The investigating officer allegedly received kickbacks worth Rs 5.25 crore for extending undue and illegal advantages to the accused. The complaint said that Rakesh Kumar Yadav got the kickbacks in cash and kind worth Rs 5.25 crore.
