Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw: Indian Railways will soon give land for Bengaluru suburban rail
BENGALURU: Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said Indian Railways would hand over land for Bengaluru suburban rail project in a few days.
Speaking to reporters at an interactive session here, Vaishnaw said: “I have already reviewed the Bengaluru suburban rail project more than three times.
Some modifications were required. We will hand over the land to K-RIDE (the special purpose vehicle which is executing the project) in a few days.”
In October 2020, the Centre approved Bengaluru suburban railway project, but the civil works tender of only one corridor (25-km Byappanahalli-Yeshwantpur-Chikkabanavara – Mallige line) was invited. This despite PM Narendra Modi’s promise to deliver the project, which was pending for the past 40 years, in 40 months. The project comprises four corridors.
