Unfinished Uran railway subway turns swimming pool

NAVI MUMBAI: The Uran railway station, which is yet to be inaugurated, has reported flooding in the subway area due to heavy rains on Thursday. An online video of local teenagers swimming in the Uran station’s subway has gone viral.

Green activists said that since the Uran station is constructed over wetland area, there are high chances of it getting flooded every monsoon season. Uran locals have raised concern over the station work and continuous delay in connecting Kharkopar station with the township. Prof Rajendra Madhavi, an Uran resident, said, “The waterlogging started over a week ago when monsoon set in.”
