TUs protest Talcher power station closure bid
Thousands of workers and employees of the Talcher Thermal Power Station (TTPS) of NTPC under the banner of a Milita Mancha of central trade unions on Wednesday took out a rally from the Master Canteen to the Lower PMG protesting the closure notice on the TTPC-NTPC plant from April 1. They shouted slogans against the move to shut down a profit-making PSU and demanded that the plant be allowed to run. They also demanded immediate resumption of constriction work for two power plants of 1,320 MW at Talcher for which tender has been awarded to the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited.
