Trial run for delivering vaccines by drones kicks off in Telangana
The first Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone trial run of ‘Medicine from the Sky’ project kicked off on Saturday in the Vikarabad district of Telangana. The drone successfully delivered a payload comprising vaccines.
The vaccine was delivered from Police Parade Ground to a primary health centre (PHC) around three kilometres away in Vikarabad. The aim was to discover how life-saving medical items such as blood, vaccines and medicines can be delivered more rapidly compared to by road.
