TN seals short-term power purchase

Chennai: To manage the spike in electricity demand during peak summer months, the TNPDCL will procure short-term power with a total contracted capacity of 4,029 MW at tariffs ranging from 5.4 to 9.5 for a unit. With power demand expected to reach 23,000 MW this year, TNPDCL augmented generation, signed long and medium-term power purchase agreements, and strengthened the distribution network.
