Three injured in Puducherry LPG cylinder blast
PUDUCHERRY: Three people, including a child, sustained severe injuries in a gas cylinder blast at a house in Puducherry on Saturday.
The injured have been identified as Jyothi, 57, her daughter Ezhilarasi, 37, and her granddaughter Srinidhi, 12.
Police said Jyothi, a widow, and Ezhilarasi, a divorcee, had settled in two different portions of a two-storeyed house at Muthialpet in the town limits. An LPG cylinder explosion occurred in one portion of the house in the morning, razing almost half of concrete structure. The debris of the house fell on Jyothi, and she suffered injuries. Ezhilarasi sustained 70% burn injuries and her daughter Srinidhi, who was sleeping on the floor, sustained 30% burn injuries.
Fire and rescue service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the three people and sent them to Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Postgraduate Institute.
