Telangana State Road Transport Corporation seeks 1,000 new electric buses to bolster green campaign
HYDERABAD: In a major boost to making public transport more sustainable, Telangana is likely to have electric buses zipping in and out of cities other than Hyderabad. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has sought 1,000 new electric buses, of which 500 are slated to operate in Hyderabad and the rest across the state, with specific depots also decided.
The demand aggregation from various public transport undertakings, including TSRTC, was done by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), which has issued tenders for 5,690 e-buses for STUs across the country.
In the tender, TSRTC has sought 50 buses each for Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam, Suryapet, Siddipet, Jangaon and Sangareddy.
