Telangana skies to buzz with jab delivery drones, trial run today
HYDERABAD/NEW DELHI: Telangana is all set to become the first state in the country to kick off a trial run for delivering vaccines by drones to healthcare centres in remote areas from Thursday.
BlueDart Express along with Delhi-based drone delivery startup Skye Air Mobility will be undertaking the trials in Vikarabad from September 9 to October 17 as part of the Telangana government’s ‘Medicine from the Sky’ project, which was launched in late 2019 in partnership with the World Economic Forum (WEF).
On Thursday, boxes weighing 2-3 kg will take off from Vikarabad district hospital for primary healthcare centres 500 metres away, flying to an altitude of up to 400 feet.
