Telangana rains: Many irrigation projects almost at full reservoir level
HYDERABAD: With heavy rains lashing the state for the past few days and huge inflows into various rivers, all major and medium irrigation projects on the Godavari and Krishna have reached full reservoir levels. The irrigation department has lifted crest gates to release water from projects such as Nizamsagar, and Lower and Mid Manair.
Officials said that rain havoc was seen in various districts, especially in the north such as Karimnagar, Warangal and Nizamabad apart from Hyderabad.
According to irrigation officials, Sriram Sagar and Nizamsagar have been receiving heavy inflows from upstream areas for a while. “While Sriram Sagar is receiving 3,50,000 cusecs inflows, Nizamsagar is receiving 49,200 cusecs. Nizamsagar has almost reached full reservoir level.
