Telangana: Railways on track, had adopted name in 2020
HYDERABAD: While the file on renaming of Yadagirigutta as Yadadri is still pending with the state government, the railways, however, went ahead and changed the nomenclature of Raigir station, located 4 km from the temple town, and named it as Yadadri railway station.
The railways did this in 2020 after getting confirmation from the state authorities. The South Central Railway authorities use ‘Yadd’ as title in their official correspondence for Yadadri station and on IRCTC website for passengers buying tickets.
The Telangana government had trifurcated erstwhile Nalgonda district and named one of them as Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district during the districts’ reorganisation process in 2016. Yadagirigutta is located in this district.
