Tatas set five-year target to transform Air India into a world class airline

NEW DELHI: Air India has set a target of transforming over the next five years into a comfortable and punctual world class airline with a larger domestic market share and increased international footprint, under its new owner — the founder Tata Group.

Termed “Vihaan.AI”, Sanskrit for the dawn of a new era for the airline, the ambitious plan has a realistic timeframe given the decades of mismanagement as a government-owned entity to undo. AI says the aim is to by 2027 emerge as a “world-class global airline with an Indian heart – the absolute best in class in customer service, in technology, in product, in reliability and in hospitality.”

“As part of Vihaan.AI, Air India has put into place a detailed roadmap with clear milestones focusing on dramatically growing both its network and fleet, developing a completely revamped customer proposition, improving reliability and on-time performance, and taking a leadership position in technology, sustainability, and innovation, while aggressively investing behind the best industry talent.
