Tamil Nadu seeks Rs 1,200 from Centre to install transformer digital meters
Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has sought Rs 1,200 crore from the Centre to set up transformer digital meters.
A team led by state power minister P Thangamani called on Union power minister R K Singh and sought financial support to purchase four lakh digital transformer meters which will lower the transmission and distribution loss from 14%.
“We need to set up distribution transformer meters to bring down the average transmission and commercial loss from 14%. We need four lakh meters. We need around Rs 1,200 crore to change the meters and we sought support from the Centre,” said Thangamani.
These meters will be installed on all transformers to check how much power is being supplied.
