Swiggy, Reliance BP Mobility tie up to electrify food delivery

NEW DELHI: Reliance BP Mobility, a fuel retail joint venture between Reliance Industries Ltd and BP plc, and the country’s largest food aggregator Swiggy have inked a pact for adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), including electric two-wheelers, for deliveries.

The deal is part of Reliance group’s bid to fast-track creation of an EV ecosystem in the country and create a market for high performance energy storage batteries it proposes to produce under a $10 billion green energy play.

The two entities began trials on Thursday, the company said in a statement.

Reliance BP Mobility will set up battery swapping stations at its retail outlets, operating under the Jio-BP brand, in the next five years.
