Suzuki to invest Rs 30,000 cr on 2 new plants

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stones for Suzuki Motor Corporation’s upcoming electric cell plant in Gujarat and a new vehicle manufacturing plant in Haryana. The two projects will entail an investment of over Rs 30,000 crore.

Modi was attending an event to commemorate 40 years of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan signing an agreement with erstwhile Maruti NSE 0.51 % Udyog to start a joint venture, formally starting the Japanese carmaker’s innings in India. The agreement was signed in October 1982.
