Suspension bridge collapse: 5 months after deaths of 135, Gujarat govt supersedes Morbi municipality
AROUND FIVE months after the Jhulto Pul suspension bridge in Morbi collapsed, killing135 people, the Gujarat government on Tuesday superseded the BJP-ruled Morbi Municipality. The action comes around three months after the government served a show-cause notice on the municipality on January 18, observing that its general board had “failed” to discharge its duties.
“The state government has issued an order today (Tuesday) to supersede the Morbi municipality,” a top government official in Morbi district told The Indian Express.
