Supreme Court asks two CERC members to go on leave

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday asked two members of Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) to go on leave till the time a member law is appointed, paralysing the commission for at least a month.

The order leaves the regulator with just Chairperson P K Pujari while the quorum for hearings is two members besides chair.

“The commission will not be able to function and there will be delays and piled up petitions for at least a month. However, the past orders would not be affected,” a source said.
