Super Sunday: Domestic air travel records new high for flyer & flight numbers; Air India again 2nd biggest desi airline
NEW DELHI: This Sunday (February 19) turned out to be a super Sunday for domestic aviation with the highest ever number of daily flyers — at over 4.4 lakh — on the 6,068 flights operated by scheduled airlines — another record high.
Since November 2022, India has seen a huge surge in travel within the country with listed stakeholders like airlines, hotels and online travel agencies (OTAs) announcing their highest ever quarterly revenues and profits in October-December 2022.
“The Indian aviation industry has achieved a significant milestone as domestic aviation operations reach new heights,” the aviation ministry tweeted on Monday.
