Strong manufacturing base, supply chain needed to make solar power viable at current tariff: Prashant Jain, JSW Energy
India needs a strong manufacturing base and supply chain in order to make solar energy projects viable at the current low tariff level of Rs 2.50 per unit, JSW Energy Joint MD & CEO Prashant Jain has said.
Talking about inflationary pressure on solar projects in an exclusive interview with ET Energyworld, Jain said that most of India’s solar panels are imported from China where polysilicon prices and the overall panel prices have gone up from 20 Cents per Watt peak to 40 Cents per Watt Peak in the past. The rupee meanwhile depreciated from 72 per dollar to 83 per dollar.
