SpiceJet operating under enhanced surveillance since June 22, 2023: DGCA
Budget carrier SpiceJet is operating under “enhanced surveillance” of India’s aviation safety regulator. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) says it took the step last month. “SpiceJet has been put under enhanced surveillance since June 22, 2023,” said a senior DGCA official.
When contacted, a SpiceJet spokesperson said: “No such communication has been received by the airline from the DGCA.”
The airline has been trying to raise funds for some time now but without any success so far. The only funding in recent times for it has come in the form of more loans under the emergency credit line guarantee scheme. Its board is meeting on Wednesday to discuss fund raising.
