SpiceJet offers only tax-paid same day return tickets to fly people to vote
NEW DELHI: SpiceJet has launched a program to fly people for free to the city where they can caste their vote. The airline will not charge any fare and citizens will get same day return tickets for voting by only paying tax on the same, under “SpiceDemocracy” campaign.
“SpiceJet wants to help all Indians participate in the democratic process, irrespective of geographical boundaries and help voters from anywhere fly back to their hometowns, for free, so they could cast their vote.… SpiceJet is offering hundreds of free tickets to select registered voters on its network, only taxes to be paid by the flier, starting with the upcoming Delhi assembly elections scheduled on February 8. Registrations are opened till February 5, 2020. Free round trip tickets will be offered to flyers willing to return on the same day, February 8. Alternatively, flyers will be offered a one-way free ticket if they plan to fly on February 7 and return on 8th or fly on February 8 and return on 9th,” the airline said in a statement.
