SpiceJet fleet expansion hit by Boeing’s delivery issues
SpiceJet’s plan to increase flights has hit an air pocket due to unavailability of new MAX plans, as Boeing has offered them to deliver only 3 out of the 10 aircraft demanded by the airline.
“The airline needs these aircraft for two primary reasons – one this will replace the old aircraft with new and new aircraft will bring some sale and leaseback income too. Boeing’s focus, it seems, is more on Akasa now and hence SpiceJet is being offered less aircraft,” said an industry insider.
