Southern Railway submits reports on increasing speed of trains on these routes

CHENNAI: Southern Railway has submitted detailed project reports to the railway board to increase speed of trains to 160 kmph on Chennai-Bengaluru, Chennai-Gudur and Chennai-Renigunta routes.

This follows railway board’s in-principle approval to upgrade speed to 160 kmph on eight routes.

Southern Railway is also carrying out work to increase speed of trains to 130kmph on the Arakkonam – Jolarpettai route so that trains like Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express can be run faster by March 2023.
