Solar pumps installation augment irrigation in Kanker

Solar pumps installed by the Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Authority (CREDA) have augmented irrigation facility in Chhattisgarh’s tribal-dominated Kanker district.

Under the Saur Sujala Yojana, the solar pumps have come up to provide irrigation to farmers living in distant and remote regions, an official communication said.

The economic condition of farmers has improved a lot as the scheme is proving to be a boon, it said.

Thanks to the solar pumps provided at subsidized price, farmers now also grow crops like maize and vegetables, increasing their income.
