SFIO summons Sanjay Singal

Mumbai: The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has summoned Sanjay Singal, the former CMD of Bhushan Power and Steel Ltd (BPSL), in connection with its probe into the company’s affairs, sources told ET. The fresh summons follow leads from a prosecution complaint, or a chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in a money laundering case against Singal, BPSL and 23 others, the sources said.

“There are certain details which have emerged in the ED’s probe on which Singal and others are required to be further questioned and therefore they had been summoned,” an official said.

Singal has, however, sought another date to appear before SFIO citing poor health, the official added. He has filed a petition before the Supreme Court challenging the SFIO’s summons, sources said.
