Senthil Balaji picks holes in AIADMK’s power supply claim

Chennai: State electricity minister V Senthil Balaji on Monday slammed the AIADMK for faulting the government for not providing 24-hour three-phase power supply to farmers.

He said in the assembly that the previous AIADMK government provided only 12 hours of 3-phase power supply to farmers in the Cauvery delta region and 9 hours of 3-phase supply to farmers in non-delta region. He said the previous government, on February 25, 2021, a day before the election was announced, passed an order promising 24-hour 3-phase power supply to farmers from April 1, 2021.

When the state did not have adequate power source to supply 24 hours of 3-phase supply, the erstwhile AIADMK government’s order could not be implemented, he said.
