SC seeks status report from CBI, ED on investigation in coal scam cases
The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked two investigation agencies to give it a status report on their investigation of the coal block allocation scam cases.
The court said it would take a practical view on the repatriation of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers investigating their cases to their parent departments.
A bench of justices Deepak Gupta and Aniruddha Bose said it needed to go through the case files as it was a new bench dealing with the matter and listed it for hearing on October 27.
The bench said it would also like to have the assistance of senior advocate R S Cheema, who has been appointed as special public prosecutor (SPP) by the top court for the coal scam cases, in the matter.
