The government has amended the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) Rules 2022 making power generation companies not offering surplus electricity, which is within the declared generation capacity but not required by distribution companies, on the exchanges ineligible to claim capacity or fixed charges for the same.
Additionally, the surplus power cannot be sold on the power exchange at more than 120% of energy charge plus applicable transmission charge.
