Rs 1.3 cr power theft found at electroplating unit in Malad
MUMBAI: The vigilance team of Adani Electricity unearthed a major power theft case involving pilferage worth more than Rs 1.3 crore in Malad (East).
“The firm involved in electroplating business inside Kurar village was found guilty of illegally using a three-phase direct supply,” said an official in touch with the vigilance team. “We have an FIR lodged against a woman and three men at Kandivli police station under Section 135 and Section 150 of Electricity Act 2003 for being involved in pilfering nearly 7 lakh units of electricity over the past three years.”
The pilferage had gone unnoticed for several months, but acting on a tip-off a few months ago, the vigilance team visited the area and noticed suspicious activities.
