Roll back VAT hike on petrol, diesel: Cong

Delhi Congress has demanded the immediate roll back of the hike in VAT (Value Added Tax) on petrol and diesel, saying that people are in severe financial distress following the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a letter written to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress Delhi unit president Anil Kumar said that people are not in a position to afford the steep hike in petroleum products.

Kumar also said that following the Modi Government insensitively hiking the prices of petrol and diesel more than ten times since the beginning of March when the people of the country and Delhi have faced unprecedented public health, economic and social challenges, the Delhi Government followed suit by hiking VAT on petrol and diesel, which has imposed an unbearable burden on the people of Delhi.
