Road to link remote Chhattisgarh village
Construction of a road has finally begun in village Pudang in the northern end of Chhattisgarh — 75 years after India’s Independence. Until now, election officials had to take a helicopter to reach the village.
Pudang is situated 140 km from the Balrampur district headquarters and is home to 2,200 people.
An official communication on Sunday said the village remained deprived of road connectivity all these decades.
A Pahadi Korwa tribal, Amavas, said he was 40 but he has still not visited the district headquarters. He said people of his village had to travel via Jharkhand to visit places in Chhattisgarh.
People suffered during medical emergencies, he said.
