Retired electricity dept clerk commits suicide

A retired clerk of the electricity department allegedly committed suicide on Monday by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his home.

The police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against a SDO of the electricity department after a complaint filed by the victim’s family, the police said on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Devki Nandan (58), of Jacobpura in Gurugram. He used to be a clerk in the electricity corporation. He had retired on 31 August.

The victim’s family told the police that Devki Nandan was under stress for almost five months before his retirement.
