Renewable energy may be supplied via state discoms, customers may be allowed to buy directly from developers

India is considering offering renewable energy through state power distribution companies to consumers at a separate “green tariff” and also allowing customers to directly buy renewable energy from developers by exempting additional surcharge.

The government proposes to frame rules targeting removal of barriers on easy trade of renewable energy between buyers and sellers, said a senior government official.
