Relief for UK flyers: India doubles weekly nonstops to 60 from August 16
NEW DELHI: In a major relief for flyers between India and the UK, the government has doubled allowed nonstops on this route from 30 weekly to 60 weekly from August 16. Enhanced capacity is the only way to ensure reasonable fares as the government does not regulate international fares.
A senior official of AI, which has nonstops to London from maximum Indian cities, said the airline is “increasing flights between India and the UK in a phased manner. Currently (there are) plans to operate to London from Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Goa, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai. Operations from more stations (are) also being considered.”
