Reforms to make discoms viable within 3 years: Power Minister RK Singh
New Delhi: Path-breaking reforms in the power sector will make India’s state distribution companies financially viable within three years, union power and renewable energy minister RK Singh said on Wednesday.
The proposed reforms include a provision to terminate the service of a regulator that does not abide by the law and resists a legitimate petition to raise tariffs when costs rise. This provision is being introduced in place of the earlier proposal to take away the power of a state government to appoint a regulator, he said.
