Redesign work on 9 roads to end gridlock begins
After announcing the redesigning projects of the nine most congested roads, the Delhi Government has started the construction work on these stretches during the night as during the day time traffic on these corridors is high. Out of 45 km long nine stretches, work order for three stretches has been awarded.
Also, the Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday said Delhi roads are wide but are not planned properly. “There are number of uneven roads. For instance, there are roads whose width will vary, somewhere it is 2m, then 3m and again 2m, due to the differentiation in the lane width, commuters and pedestrians face traffic snarl,” said Jain.
