Recovery in fuel demand continues in August so far
Fuel demand recovery maintained its momentum in the first half of August, with petrol sales rising nearly 4% above the pre-Covid level while diesel staying just 8% short.
Petrol sales in the first fortnight of August rose 9.4% above the volumes in the same period last year, as per preliminary sales data by state-run oil NSE 2.42 % companies. Diesel sales jumped 18.5% from last year. The easing of lockdown curbs has boosted economic activity, leading to a strong recovery in fuel demand, industry executives said.
