Railways shelves plan to move imported coal from ports

The Indian Railways has put in abeyance the logistics plan drawn up to transport imported coal from ports during the peak demand months, even as the dry fuel’s stock improved at power plants.

The decision came after the power ministry asked coal-fired electricity generation companies to halve the blending percentage of imported coal in their total mix to 5%.
