Railways identifies 1,253 stations for development in small & big cities: Government

Government has identified over 1,200 railway stations for modernisation across the country, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Parliament today. “Ministry of Railways has formulated various developmental schemes for upgradation, modernization and augmentation of stations including stations in various small and big cities,” Vaishnaw said in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

“Stations are upgraded/modernised under the Adarsh Station Scheme based on identified need of providing better-enhanced passenger amenities at stations. 1,253 railway stations over Indian Railways have been identified for development under Adarsh Station Scheme,” Vaishnaw said in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
