Railways earn Rs 844 crore in 3 mnths from e-auction of assets
Since bringing its commercial earning and non-fare revenue contracts online three months ago, the railways has earned Rs 844 crore, with contracts for advertisement on its premises, parking lots, leasing parcel space, and pay-and-use toilets emerging as the top revenue-generating assets.
In a boost for small entrepreneurs and start-ups, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched an e-auction for commercial earnings in June, a project that allows for quick contract finalisation and re-award in the event of contract failure.
