In a major decision, the Railway Board in one go “removed” more than two dozen railway employees working in the capacity of the personal staff of a Minister of State for Railways.
The officials including those in the ranks of Deputy Director, Section Officer, and Protocol Officers were reportedly removed on charges of corruption operating. Sources said of the total of 27 staffers 9 are lowly-placed peons. They have punished for are seeking favours like transfer postings, reservations in lieu of money, and bookings at rail guest houses etc.
Sources said the staffers who are full-time rail employees were attached to a Minister of State after the last reshuffle in July.
An order issued by the Rail Board Secretary’s office dated May 20 directed the 27 employees to go back to their parent office and leave the Rail Ministers secretariat without any delay.
