Railway ministry seeks 30% hike in FY24 Budget allocation

The ministry of railways has sought a 30% higher budgetary allocation for FY24 from the finance ministry to support the launch of new trains and upgrade of existing railway infrastructure.

“Railways has indicated that it will require 30% more allocation for the next fiscal year,” a government official said, adding that additional expenditure has been sought for launch of new Vande Bharat trains, laying of new railway tracks and enhancement of security.
