Rail infra growth needs aggressive push in Rayagada

Though 58 trains including 33 mail/express, 18 superfast, five passenger and two superfast AC, halt at Rayagada station, most of them are weekly.

In spite of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s visit to the district last year and taking stock of the situation, the infrastructural progress paints a gloomy picture.

Despite a hue and cry by civil society entities, Therubali-Gunupur railway line project, for which financial sanctions have already been made, is yet to see the light of the day. Identification of a Joint Venture (JV) company is a State Government responsibility. But this has not been done yet and the status of the project is not known to anybody including the MP, MLAs and other people’s representatives.
