The public works department (PWD) is planning to install height barriers at all entry points of the Barapullah elevated corridor in Delhi to restrict the entry of heavy vehicles such as trucks, lorries and buses, officials said.
The decision to put the barriers was taken following a written request by the Delhi Traffic Police informing the department that the stretch was facing heavy traffic congestion due to the entry of heavy vehicles, officials added.
“The traffic police also said that it was not possible to deploy police personnel for round-the-clock duty at the flyover point,” an official said.
