Lucknow: PWD on Friday said that over the past one year the department has added 12,000km of new roads and has repaired 75,000km of the existing network.
Sharing details of works undertaken by PWD over the past one year, officials said the length of the total road network has now increased to 2.99 lakh km. On March 31 last year UP had the road network of 2.87 lakh km, they said. The maximum focus during the first year of Yogi Adityanath’s second tenure has been on strengthening road connectivity in rural parts of the state. To take up the village road works, the state government had introduced a scheme in 2019-2020 under which villages having a population of more than 250 were also considered for providing road connectivity.
