Punjab: Facing power cuts, irregulars supply, paddy farmers attack grids
PATIALA: Furious over not getting regular power supply at their agriculture pumpset (AP) feeders during paddy season and not facing power cuts for domestic demand, farmers in parts of Punjab attacked grids and employees at power grids, thus halting power supply to feeders meant to provide electricity to industry and domestic sectors.
Sources in PSPCL said some farmers attacked grid stations in Jalandhar, Mansa, Laltokala near Ludhiana, Bajakhana power grids and other areas under north, south and west zones of PSPCL on Wednesday. At Laltokalan grid, angry farmers detained employees and locked control room. It is learnt that employees informed seniors and demanded security, and also told them that police were informed, but no action was taken.
