Punjab: Amid coal crisis, all 4 units at Ropar, 3 at Lehra shut

PATIALA: Amid coal crisis, the government-run thermal power plants on Saturday shut all four units at Ropar and three of four at Lehra Mohabbat, even though Punjab State Power Corporation Limited attributed it to a decline in demand due to change of weather.

It projected the demand to decline further by Sunday, since there is forecast for rain. It also claimed the state had no power crisis for now. Two units each at Rajpura and Talwandi Sabo were running on full load, while GVK was on reduced load. Technical fault has shut one unit of Talwandi Sabo, while a TSPL spokesman said it was done following instructions from the PSPCL and looking at the requirement.
