Pune: Traffic at Chandani Chowk to be stopped between 12.30 am and 1 am every day for blasting of rocks
Authorities said that traffic on both corridors of the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway and other connecting roads will be stopped at Chandani Chowk in Pune for 30 minutes between 12.30 am and 1 am every day till the completion of work for the controlled blasting of rocks for the ongoing construction of the new bridge and service road.
The decision comes a day after a very heavy traffic jam was reported Sunday afternoon at the Chandani Chowk area as the authorities enforced a traffic block for 20 minutes for the controlled blasting. It had taken over an hour for the restoration of normal traffic flow. The police subsequently directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to apply traffic blocks only at night.
