PSPCL launches ‘Kifayati LED Bulb Yojna’; BPL, SC, BC consumers to get ‘LED’ bulbs

Aimed at providing viable power solutions to the people hailing from the Below Poverty Line (BPL), SC and BC backgrounds, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has launched a novel initiative — Kifayati LED Bulb Yojna — worth Rs 8.63 crore.

Under the scheme, each existing eligible consumer from BPL, SC and BC categories, availing electricity subsidy having sanctioned load up to one kilowatt (KW), would be provided with two LED bulbs at just Rs 30, said PSPCL chairman-cum-managing director A Venu Prasad on Friday.

Pointing out the benefits entailed under the scheme, Prased said that these LED bulbs would save electricity up to 80-90 per cent and are long lasting (20,000 hours) with no chance of fire besides being environment friendly.
